Educational qualifications, PhD in Library and Information Science from Sambalpur University, Orissa. Prior to that completed MLIS and BLIS from University of Delhi.  Awarded first position in the University in both BLIS and MLIS. Was awarded scholarship for studies in MLIS respectively. Before joining LIS, completed MSc. ( Chemistry) from University of Delhi.  Joined Kurukshetra University as Lecturer in 1989 and worked till 25 th  September 2003. Joined as Reader in Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) on 26 th  September 2003. Now working as Professor in IGNOU. Taught both BLIS and MLIS classes regularly in face to face mode while working in Kurukshetra University. Was also involved in teaching students enrolled in the distance education programme of the University. Took active part in organizing other extracurricular activities of the University. Was regularly involved in admission as convener and also in the evaluation activities of the University.

Have been associated in professional activities, associated with professional peer review journals acting as reviewer. Edited special issues of well known journals like Annals of Library and Information Studies and DESIDOC Journal of Library and Information Technology. Also Joint Editor of well known peer review journal, Library Herald. Life member of prominent professional national associations like ILA, IASLIC and DLA. Have been regularly delivering lectures in Refresher  Progammes in universities, research institutions, Navodyay Vidyalaya and other schools. Also involved as Covener in desgning standard for Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). Have been a member of Board of Studies of different universities. Teaching LIS since December 1989 beginning with face to face teaching in conventional mode and in the distance mode since September 2003. Prior to joining teaching, worked in a college of university of University of Delhi in adhoc position. Also worked in a project of Indian Library. Association in setting up the Indira Gandhi National Centre of the Arts Library, New Delhi.  Was assigned the job of classification, cataloguing and assigning subject headings to books. Have taught Library Classification, Library Cataloguing, Library Automation, Information Processing and Retrieval at Kurukshetra University. Was involved in designing the curricula of the University during 1999. Have been involved in coordinating BLIS and PhD Programmes at IGNOU. While new courses were designed wrote units and edited some courses. Have been regularly involved in evaluating Project Synopsis of MLIS students. Have been involved in counseling of IGNOU learners in face to face mode and also through interactive radio counseling and teleconferencing. Also coordinated a MOOCs certificate course in 2018. Also taught in Online Refresher Programme recording videos for ARPIT Programme. Also worked as University Librarian, IGNOU ( Incharge) during January 2014- June 2018.

The academic credentials of Dr, Satish R. Gaikwad includes MSc, MPhil and PhD in Biotechnology. He is currently working as Deputy Director (Academic) in Research Unit at IGNOU, New Delhi. He joined as Assistant Director in the erstwhile Distance Education Council (DEC) during 2012. Later he got promoted to Assistant Director (Senior Scale in 2016) and Assistant Director (Selection Grade in 2021). He has vast experience in the University System in General and ODL System in specific as his area of work experience is spread across the disciplines like “University: Evaluation System, Student Support System, Regulatory System of Distance Education, Community Colleges Scheme, Admission System, Fellowships and Academic Financial Assistance(s), Publication Ethics, Scientific Research, Research and Methodology, Research Ethics, Evaluation Methodology, Finance and Establishments,”etc. He also worked with University Grants Commission (UGC) on deemed deputation.
