Key topics include the impact of family, peers, and media, as well as neuroscientific insights. The course delves into the role of family counseling and therapeutic techniques in supporting children’s development, addressing emotional and behavioral challenges within family dynamics.Equity and inclusion are critical lenses in understanding child development, especially regarding gender, socio-economic disparities, disability, and minority identities. The course encourages students to examine inclusive practices, legal rights, and social justice frameworks that support diverse children and families. Contemporary debates cover minority identities, alternative family structures, and resilience in children, equipping students to critically assess policy, legislative provisions, and intervention strategies.
