Introduction

The Diploma in Women’s Empowerment and Development is a unique combination of theoretical and training perspectives. It would equip learners with the knowledge and skills to function as grassroot or supervisory level functionaries especially those working with governmental and non-governmental Programmes focusing on women’s empowerment and development.

Objective

The programme aims to:

  • Sensitize development workers on gender issues;
  • Impart necessary expertise to enable learners to function as specialists on women’s issues;
  • Help generate a social environment, through the open and distance learning mode, free from inequalities disfavoring women;
  • Impart necessary expertise to enable learners to function as trainers and community organizers in addressing gender issues;
  • Cater to needs of persons employed in NGOs and Government Organizations engaged in gender planning and training; and
  • Provide multiple media training packages for use in training contexts by individuals or institutions
