Certificate in Consumer Protection (CCP)

Course Fee: Rs. 1,800
Minimum Age: No bar
Maximum Age: No bar

Eligibility:

10+2 or its equivalent or BPP from IGNOU.

Medium of Instruction: English/ Hindi

 

Over the years, the need for consumer education has been felt all over the world. The rapid industrialization, revolution in the Information Communication Technology, globalization, etc., have brought about dramatic changes in our need, perceptions, behaviour patterns, attitude towards rights, entitlements responsibilities and concerns as consumers. In developing countries like India, these issues have become more problematic. The goal of consumer education is to prepare students for their role as consumers, activists in consumer protection movement and professionals in NGOs and other concerned bodies.
 
Objectives:The objectives of this programme are to:
  • create an overall awareness on Consumer A?airs with special emphasis on Consumer Protection;
  • enable the learners to understand various Consumer Protection Issues; and
  • Enable the learner to work as a consumer activist in the industrial sector, NGOs and government departments on consumer a?airs.

    Employment Opportunities:
    The successful learners may be in a position to
           i)      Help others either by self or through NGOs/ VCOs, in consumer related affairs.
           ii)     Get openings in the consumer affairs departments, consumer cooperatives, stores, retail outlets etc.
 
Evaluation System

The Evaluation System for CCP consists of two components:
a) Continuous evaluation through assignments (Tutor Marked Assignments).
b) Term-end examinations.

For successfully completing this programme learners have to clear within 2 years from the date of registration:
 a) 3 Assignments which have to be submitted at the Study Centre/ Regional Centre
 b) 3 Tern End Exams i.e CPI-101 , CPI102 & CPI-103
c) Successfully complete the project (CPIP-104) .

In the final results, assignments carry 30% Weightage, while 70% Weight age is given for
Term-end- examinations. For Project work weightage is 100%
