STRIDE focuses on the following activities to achieve its objectives:

 

  • Conducts TNA for different target groups already involved and those expected to get involved in open distance education, online learning, and blended learning.
  • Builds up a resource base of up-to-date information, training materials, courses, academic programmes and expertise, and make such resources available to all whenever needed.
  • Develops training strategies and training materials to meet the various needs of different types of individuals and distance teaching/training institutions, and higher and professional education institutions.
  • Develops frameworks and models for curriculum design, instructional design, technology- enabled learning, learners support, assessment; learner persistence and dropout, cost-effectiveness; research training, special education needs; and trains the faculty of IGNOU, SOUs, DEIs, and HEIs on implementation of technology–pedagogy design for discipline-based and inter-disciplinary certificate, diploma and degree programmes.
  • Organizes and conducts training and staff development activities for the identified target groups and institutions through various strategies leading to completion of certificates, diplomas and degrees. The focus of contemporary staff development has been on: Digital Learning Resources, OER and MOOCs, Curriculum and Instructional Design, Multidisciplinary and Holistic Education, Credit Accumulation/Accreditation of Prior Learning, Academic Bank of Credits, Digital Pedagogy/Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning/Deep Learning/Learning Analytics, Online and Blended Learning, Disability and Special Need Education, and Research Skills.   
  • Promotes and conducts research in Open,  Distance, Online and Blended Learning at the fundamental, experimental and application levels in order to constantly enrich the training programmes and management processes, and meet the challenges of the expanding educational environment; and brings out a peer-reviewed international journal Indian Journal of Open Learning, indexed in Indian Citation Index, and UGC-CARE.
  • Offers research degree programmes to eligible target group leading to M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees.
  • Responds to the needs of dynamic systems of education and development using information and communication technologies.
