The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has constituted the Institute’s Innovation Council (IIC) at NCIDE following the establishment of the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC). As a part of its activities, the IIC has been organising Idea Competition to identify the innovative ideas having potential to be converted into startups. This activity is linked to the MoE’s initiative to create a National Innovation Repository-YUKTI. The purpose of the Competition is to recognize, share, nurture and promote ideas of the students of IGNOU, to systematically foster the culture of Innovation through multitudinous modes leading to an innovation promotion eco-system at IGNOU. The selected students are invited to participate and present their ideas.

 

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has been promoting creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship among its students. In view of the announcement of the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission by the Government of India, it becomes more important to identify, recognize and support the innovator and entrepreneur students of IGNOU. In this context, since 2018, IGNOU has been awarding its innovator students with the Best Student Innovation Awards on the Foundation day of the University. 

 

To generate awareness about innovation, entrepreneurship and startups among the students and faculty, and to motivate them towards startups, NCIDE organizes Weekly Facebook Live Sessions. During 2021-2022, a total of Forty Nine such Sessions by different Experts have been organized for IGNOU students and faculty on various Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Startup related topics. The sessions have been watched by thousands of students across India on Facebook and YouTube Channel of the University. IN order to encourage and motivate the IGNOU students, Alumni and other stakeholders at the Regional Centres towards innovation, entrepreneurship and startups, NCIDE is coordinating with the Regional Centres for establishing Innovation Clubs@RCs. From time to time NCIDE has been organizing various competitions and challenges in the areas of ideas, innovation, hackathons, app development challenges, etc.
